Yanney Park Heritage Day is Saturday, June 7th, and is free for all to attend. We are expecting 3,000 people throughout the day! The day will kick off with the Sue Bush run starting at 8:30 a.m. There will be various events throughout the day: Storybook Walk, Family Fishing Day, Cabela’s Kayak Test Drive, and Kayakjaks’s Kayak Fishing, Kayak Races, Adam White Magic Show sponsored by First National Bank, Junior Golf Experience, Caricature Artist and Face Paint, Explore Theater Classes, and Giant Inflatables for kids.
The Peterson Senior Activity Center will also have various activities: Swing Dance Lessons, Line Dancing Lessons, a Yoga Class, Piloxing, and a Pitch Tournament.
The Marina will be open from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Concessions will be available along with boat rentals.
There will be a food fair starting at 4:00, with vendors such as Luke & Jakes, Topperz, Rotary Club, Big City Burrito, Grilling by the Young Neighbors in Action, and Latte Da!
We have some great entertainment this year with concerts starting at 4:00 p.m. Our first act will be a local band called NerdRage (rock band); at 5:30 p.m. another local favorite Whiskey Bent (country with a little rock attitude), at 7:00 p.m. Drew Davis (Mo Twang, mixture of country-rock and Americana) will be on stage, and the headliner band will be Street Corner Symphony, a six-man cappella group who placed runner-up on NBC’s The Sing Off. They perform most any genre of music, appealing to young and old alike.
The evening will conclude with a fireworks show starting around 10:00pm sponsored by the Yanney Heritage Park Foundation Board.
We encourage all to come out to celebrate the kick-off to summer, the beautiful park, activities, events, and musical performances. Once again, it is a free event, so stop by Yanney Park on Saturday, June 7th to enjoy the day!
