Our new ReThink Your Drink video is live online and at Kearney movie theaters. (Let us know how we look on the big screen!)
Get the low-down on sports drinks with our Sports Drink Hydration Flyer. Sports drinks don’t sound like they’d be a source of extra sugar, but it’s amazing how sweet they are. Regular Gatorade and Powerade have 21g of sugar per serving (52.5g per bottle!). In addition, both drinks are packed with high-fructose corn syrup and artifical colors/flavors, and they’re owned by Pepsi and Coca-Cola, respectively.
The only time your body is working hard enough to need a sports drink is when you’re doing vigorous exercise for over an hour, and even then water should be your hydration choice. I’ve seen Wolfy go crazy at the dog park, and he’s never rushed for a Gatorade. He always goes straight to the water!
