Not only is today the first day of October and our Lighten Up! campaign, it’s also the first Tuesday of the month, making it a Trails Tuesday! With Bicycle Sunday this weekend, we wanted to spend some time showcasing the two trails in the ride: Pioneer’s Path and Betty’s Trail.

Betty’s Trail isn’t as rustic as Pioneer’s Path, but it’s probably up there with the most popular trails in the area. Running 1.77 miles, this trail runs past Yanney Park, through beautiful river/woods on one side and open prairies on the other, down to the 2nd Ave. overpass. I’ve ridden this trail probably more than any other in the area, and night rides are my favorite here. Yanney Park is amazing on cool fall nights when there’s some rain or fog in the air.

Visit the Kearney Park & Recreation website for maps of all their trails!

To see how great this trail is, check out the virtual ride below. Our camera options are limited right now, but we’re working on getting some GoPros to make these rides really intense!

Be sure to hop on Betty’s Trail this Sunday, October 3, for Bicycle Sunday. It runs from 2 – 5 p.m., and we’ll be out there with our ReThink Your Drink display punching people’s Tickets to Ride. Fill out your entire ticket with punches and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a $100 KPR gift certificate!
